Meet the Bobs: Malia

 

Malia Baker is a professional dancer, choreographer and teacher originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado. After moving to Los Angeles at the age of eighteen, Malia started working professionally and performing in commercials, television shows, movies and live performances including: Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You (25th Anniversary)” music video, Mo Willems’ “Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed: The Underground Rock Experience” HBO Special, “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” at PaleyFest, and the musical film Valley Girl (2020). She has also worked with incredible networks and brands including NBC, Hermes, Capital One and Don Julio.

In addition to dancing, Malia loves to create and inspire in choreography, teaching and producing and in the past decade, she has taught in elementary schools, studios and conventions across the world. Currently in Los Angeles, Malia teaches at renowned studios including TMILLY, Millennium Dance Complex and Stomping Ground LA. Her choreography can be seen on “So You Think You Can Dance” Season 17, and is a resident choreographer for Tease Productions. She also produces a choreography showcase, titled “Stage & Screen,” which has featured over a hundred dancers and choreographers.

Joining Bob’s Dance Shop as a dancer, choreographer and resident “LadyBob” in 2023, Malia believes that dance is a universal language that transcends barriers and hopes to use it to bring communities together. Through her performances with Bob’s Dance Shop, she aims to make dance accessible to anyone who watches and hopes to inspire others to discover the joy of movement.
